Ambassador Szapáry met with chairwoman of
the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL)

The Ambassador and the Chairwoman discussed the recent Reagan
centennial events in Budapest and Hungarian domestic issues.
Ambassador Szapáry presented the Chairwoman with a photo of the
Reagan statue and the Reagan centennial envelope which Hungary
has issued for the special anniversary of the late president.
The Chairwoman, whose district is centered in Miami, home to
many Hungarians - some of them also political refugees of the
Communist system - has agreed to join the Hungarian-American
Caucus.
The Chairwoman has also received a copy of Prime Minister
Orbán's letter
(held in her hands on the attached photos) in which he nominated
Cuban opposition leader Oscar Biscet for Nobel Peace Prize for
his efforts to promote democratic change in Cuba. Hungarian
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been a long-time supporter of Mr
Biscet's fight for freedom and democracy, who has a pending
invitation to Hungary.
