Ambassador Szapáry met with members of the Miami-based Assembly of the Cuban Resistance, an umbrella group of Cuban American civil organizations in Miami and Cuba that have set the peaceful transition to democracy in Cuba as their goal. The leaders thanked the Ambassador for Hungary's continued support to the cause of Cuban democracy, and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for nominating former political prisoner Oscar Elias Biscet for the Nobel Peace Prize. The Ambassador expressed strong support for the work of the Assembly.
