Letter of Condolences from Hungarian President László Sólyom to President Obama

The Honorable

Barack Hussein Obama

President of the United States of America

Washington, DC

Budapest, June 25, 2009

Dear Mr. President,

It was with a deep shock and sadness that I learned of the tragic accident on the Washington, DC Metro line that took the life of several Americans.

On behalf of the Hungarian people, as well as myself, I would like to take this opportunity to express to you my sincere condolences.

I ask you, Mr. President, to let the families of the deceased and injured know that our sympathies go out to them, and Hungary shares in their grief and suffering.

Sincerely,

Dr. László Sólyom

President of the Republic of Hungary
