Inside the Schengen Area, there are no
internal borders, citizens and visitors can freely travel from one country
to another. The citizens of the Schengen countries do not need passports to
travel within these countries. Hungary is among nine new Member States (with
Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia and the Czech
Republic) joining the thirteen EU Member States participating fully in the
Schengen Area (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France,
Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden) together
with Norway and Iceland.
