Mother’s Day! – Ambassador’s Family Celebrates at Andrew Air Force Base
Since 1980,
the United Service Organization of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro)
has organized a “Mother’s Day Celebration” every year to honor the
mothers of armed forces families in the metropolitan area. This annual
event is attended by over 200 service personnel and their families. It
is another way USO-Metro continues to provide a “home away from home”
for those men and women who sacrifice so much in the service to our
country.

This year,
Ambassador Ferenc Somogyi and Mrs. Andrea Bors Somogyi also attended the
USO Mother’s Day Celebration with their two sons, Balázs and Bence.
Besides mothers, children were also in the center of the event, to which
the White House provided a gigantic cake and many Embassies sent
pastries. Entertainment was provided by Magician Mike Perrello, much to
the delight of children and their families.

The
Embassy of Hungary greets mothers in the United States and in Hungary on
this special day (Mother’s Day in Hungary was on May 3), especially the
mothers in the staff and the mothers of staff members. We feel with
those servicemen whose mothers (and children) are far apart from them.
