MALÉV's CEO, Péter Leonov, in his speech marking his company's anniversary, announced the restarting of MALEV's direct flight between Budapest and New York City, beginning on May 2, 2008. The highlight of the celebration was the marzipan-covered cake depicting a Boeing-767 airplane. The raffle was also a huge success: the winner left with a flight ticket to the newly relaunched Budapest-New York route.
