On April 17, the
Congressional Club organized the annual First Lady's Luncheon honoring First
Lady Laura Bush. The event titled "The Many Splendors of Spring" took place
at the International Ballroom of Hilton Washington. Mrs. Andrea Bors
Somogyi, wife of Ambassador Somogyi, attended the luncheon with spouses of
Congressmen, Senators, Supreme Court Justices and Ambassadors.

The program included the
title poem "The Many Splendors of Spring" written and recited by Cheryl Lynn Iszard and
music played by the U.S. Marine Corps Band.

Mrs. Vivian Bishop
introduced the honoree of the luncheon, adding that this is the last such
luncheon with Mrs. Bush. The First Lady, Mrs. Laura Bush gave a deeply
personal and emotional speech, in which she recalled the memorable luncheons
of the past seven years.

Blessing was offered by Mrs.
Joyce Murtha. The lunch was followed by a presentation by Mrs. Alfredia
Scott. Mrs. Jan English introduced the event's entertainer, Frédéric Yonnet.
Closing remarks were given by Mrs. Vivian Bishop. Participants included
Secretary of Labor Mrs. Elaine Chao, Secretary of Education Margaret
Spellings, Mrs. Clarence Thomas, Mrs. Stephen Breyer, Ann Santini,
Director of International Affairs at The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints. Mrs. Robert Gates, and Mrs. Harry Reid.
