Art of Hungary 1890-1956 Exhibition in Denver

A new exhibition ”Treasures Revealed: The Art of Hungary 1890-1956” opened on October 5, 2006, at the Emmanuel Gallery on the Auraria Campus in Denver, Colorado.

H. Kirk Brown III, Jill A. Wiltse and former US Ambassador to Hungary Nancy G. Brinker presented the exhibition of their own private collections of Hungarian art to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution.

Ambassador of Hungary András Simonyi delivered opening remarks and was followed by Hungary’s Honorary Consul General Eugene F. Megyesy, Jr., Esquire, and Dr. Lewis I. Sharp, the Director of the Denver Art Museum.

The opening of the exhibit was specifically scheduled to coincide with the presentation of the newly expanded museum complex of the Denver Art Museum. During the two days of opening events, Hamilton building architect Daniel Libeskind and curator R. Craig Miller delivered lectures.

Memorial for the 1956 Revolution in Denver

On October 6, Ambassador Simonyi and Honorary Consul General Megyesy visited the Hungarian Freedom Park 1956 in Denver and laid a wreath at the memorial of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising.
