Remains of Hungarian Security Guard Killed in Iraq Arrive to U.S.

The remains of the Hungarian security guard, who had died in a terrorist attack in Iraq last week, were received with an official military ceremony at the U.S. military base at Dover, Delaware. The remains were transported to the U.S. for a post-mortem examination.

The Hungarian man worked as a security guard protecting the personnel of the Baghdad office of the Washington-based National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI). He as well as an American woman working for NDI, a Croatian and an Iraqi security guard, were killed last Wednesday when gunmen fired on their convoy of vehicles.

At the military ceremony, the Embassy of Hungary was represented by Viktor Szederkényi, Chargé D’Affairs. Representatives of the Pentagon and the State Department were also in attendance.
