Al Hrabosky is Hungarian Ambassador of Baseball

Ambassador of Hungary to the U.S. András Simonyi awarded the dignitary title “Hungarian Ambassador of Baseball” to Alan Thomas Hrabosky, one of the leading personalities in American baseball.

Al Hrabosky is of Hungarian origin; his fans gave him the nickname “the Mad Hungarian” for his ethnic ancestry and his colorful personality. Hrabosky was a Major League Baseball player from 1970-1982 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Royals, and Atlanta Braves. He led the National League in 1975 and subsequently received the Sporting News NL Fireman of the Year award. He is currently the color commentator on Cardinals regular season broadcasts on Fox Sports News Midwest.

Following their interview on Fox Sports, Ambassador Simonyi and the newly appointed “Hungarian envoy of baseball” watched the Cardinals – Nationals game in RFK Stadium.
