Hungarian Pianist Ádám György
Plays at Carnegie Hall, Embassy with Great Success
Young Hungarian pianist Ádám György gave performances at Carnegie
Hall in New York City and at the Hungarian Embassy in Washington DC.
Both concerts attracted big crowds and ended with standing ovation.

Mr. György gave a concert in Carnegie Hall's prestigious
Stern Auditorium on November 2, 2008. This concert and this venue signify a
milestone in the young musician's career. Before the performance,
Father Jacques F. LaPointe, the head of the
St. Stephen of Hungary Friary, and
Reverend Attila Kocsis Attila of the Hungarian Protestant Church delivered
remarks.
The performance attracted nearly full house in the
2,800-person Stern Auditorium. The audience expressed its appreciation with
a long standing ovation, after which Mr. György gave two encores. Among
those attending the concert were Professor August Molnár, President of the
American Hungarian Foundation, Marianne
Krencsey and Gyula Nemes, leader of the Fészek Club of Hungarians in New
York, Consul General Viktor Polgár and Consul Zsófia Trombitás, and on behalf of the Embassy, Press
Attaché Zoltán Fehér and Cultural Attaché Béla Gedeon.

After the concert, the artist signed CDs and photos for his fans who packed
Carnegie's entrance hall. The concert was supported by the American
Hungarian Foundation, the Hungarian Embassy in Washington DC, the
Hungarian Consulate General in New York, and the St. Stephen of Hungary
Friary in New York City. The artist and his supporters were given a
reception at the nearby Petrosian Restaurant.

After his spectacular success in New York, Ádám György returned to his
Washington, DC audience to give a memorable concert at the Embassy of
Hungary on November 6.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Ferenc Somogyi emphasized that
Mr. György
is one of the leading young artists representing the new
Hungary: a modern, open, dynamic country with a great deal of talent.
He highlighted some of the achievements of the musician and
emphasized that it was a great honor having Mr. György perform at
the Embassy after his Carnegie Hall concert, a milestone in his life and
work.

The capital city's audience welcomed him back warmly and thanked him with a
standing ovation, prompting the young pianist to give two encores here, too.
Participants included Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bechara, Hungary's Honorary Consul
in Puerto Rico, Edith Lauer, Chairman Emerita of the Hungarian American
Coalition, Mr. and Mrs. Pál Maléter, Jr., son of the martyr Defense Minister
of the 1956 Revolution, the representatives of the American and Hungarian
press.

At the end of the concert, Press Attaché Zoltán Fehér thanked the artist for
a great musical experience and reminded the audience that the cooperation
between Mr. György and the Embassy started over two years ago. Then, the
Embassy invited Mr. György and American pianist Steven Spooner to perform a
"Freedom Concert" in honor of the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution,
at American University's Katzen Arts Center (click

The Embassy invited all in attendance to a reception of Hungarian wine and
food while the artist was signing CDs, DVDs and photos for his admirers.
