Ambassador Szombati’s visit included a meeting with Georgia legislators,
business representatives of the greater metropolitan Atlanta area, and
with members of the Hungarian-American community.
|
He paid a visit to the Carter Center and was very pleased to see a
replica of Saint Stephen’s Crown. The return of the crown in
1978 gave a tremendous boost to Hungarian national pride and
helped a gradual thaw in relations with the community of
democratic nations, which ultimately led to the democratic
transition in 1990. |
