Commemoration of the 1848-49 Revolution and Freedom Fight at the Embassy
 

With the participation of leaders and many representatives of the Hungarian organizations in DC area as well as of the Department of State a commemoration and reception took place to recall the memories of the longest lasting revolution and freedom fight of that era in Europe.

Ambassador András Simonyi greeted the leaders of the Hungarian American Coalition, the American Hungarian Federation, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, the HungarianAmerica Foundation after the tunes of both national anthems. He emphasized that it took 140 years till we could finally join the community of free nations with special regard to transatlantic cooperation.
 

 



In the token of thereof at the end of his speech Ambassador Simonyi gave special greetings to Ms Monica McQueary USAID field program officer at the Hungarian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team in Baghlan, Afghanistan who was also invited to the reception.
