Hungary Honors Former U.S. Health Secretary Thompson

 

Ambassador András Simonyi presented the Order of Merit, Officer's Cross, to Tommy G. Thompson, the former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services yesterday.  The decoration was awarded by the President of the Republic of Hungary, László Sólyom, to Mr. Thompson in acknowledgement of his active role in strengthening U.S.-Hungarian  relations in the fields of health care and medical research.

The award ceremony was held yesterday at the residence of Nancy G. Brinker, the former U.S. ambassador to Hungary, in the presence of acting FDA commissioner Andrew C. von Eschenbach and many other high-ranking health officials.
