Dinner Honoring U.S. Soldiers Who Risked Their Lives in Iraq and Afghanistan

Ambassador Simonyi hosted a dinner today in honor of General Peter Pace, nominee for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and U.S. veterans Captain Marc Giammatteo, Staff Sergeant Joe Bowser, Lieutenant Corporal Alexander Nicoll, Specialist Ryan Sargent Private First Class Noah Nahinu at his Residence.

The dinner was a small token of appreciation from the Hungarian people for those who served and risked their lives in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In his toast the Ambassador emphasized that "Hungary was and still is a close ally of the United States in the war on terror. The sacrifices you have personally made were for, no doubt, a good and noble cause. We freed two countries and now trying to put them on track to manage their own life in the future."
