The American
Hungarian Federation and the Embassy of Hungary joined in
honoring Hungarian American military service and sacrifice, and the
common bonds that tie Hungarians and Americans together, at a
commemoration held at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day 2006.
Representatives from NATO, the U.S. and
Hungarian military, and Hungarian American leaders attended the event.
The program included a roll-call of
present and past Hungarian and American military veterans and
wreath-laying at the tombs of Hungarian American soldiers buried at
Arlington National Cemetery, the final resting place for a number of Hungarian
American military heroes.
