Simonyi hosted a reception at his Residence on Wednesday, June 28, in honor
of former Deputy Assistant Secretary
of Commerce for Europe Eric Stewart, who has been awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order
of Merit of the Republic of Hungary by the President of Hungary for his outstanding
contributions to fostering Hungarian-American economic relations. During his tenure Eric Stewart strongly supported the development of
bilateral relations based on mutual partnership between the two nations.

prominent guest of the event was The Honorable Carlos
Gutierrez, U.S. Secretary
of Commerce, who emphasized in his speech the exemplary bilateral economic
relations of Hungary and the USA. Among the distinguished guests were
also present David Bohigian,
Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Paul Dyck, recently appointed Deputy
Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Europe.

Hungarian exports to the United States reached 2,6 billion U.S. dollars,
while Hungarian imports from the U.S. amounted to 900 million U.S. dollars. U.S.
