Celebration of Hungarian Cuisine at the Residence

Hungarian Ambassador András Simonyi and his wife Náda hosted a group of the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program at their Residence for a warm celebration of Hungarian cuisine and Hungary's fine wines. After the Ambassador's opening words, Mrs. Náda Simonyi, with columnist Gail Scott as the moderator of the event, gave interesting insights into the legendary cultural and café life of Budapest, a crossroads of many civilizations and cuisines for thousands of years.

The Hungarian Chef of the Embassy, Mr. György Ócsai, demonstrated how to prepare the traditional Hungarian "chicken paprika" with handmade gnocchi, a meal the distinguished guests could taste, among others, during the buffet dinner that followed.
