Children's Prayer Congress Honors Hungary and the 1956 Revolution

On May 3, Hungary was honored at the Jewels of Peace Diplomatic Dinner of the National Children's Prayer Congress at the Hotel Willard Intercontinental in Washington DC.

Each year children from across America gather in Washington, DC to participate in the National Children's Prayer Congress. The Congress program affords the children the experience of three days of prayer and leadership training. Over the past 15 years, the Congress has honored numerous Embassies and countries at the Diplomatic Dinner. This year the National Children's Prayer Network, led by President Lin Story and Reverend Roger Story, chose the Republic of Hungary to be the international focus.

Besides the testimonies and speeches by the children themselves, the evening included a movie by Mark Story entitled "In Honor of 1956" in tribute of the 50th Anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and of Hungary's current role as an ally of the U.S. in spreading freedom in the world..

After the Hungarian national anthem, Zoltán Fehér, Political Officer, spoke on behalf of the Embassy of Hungary. He greeted the 150 children participants of the Congress on behalf of the Ambassador of Hungary, András Simonyi.

At the end of the dinner, participants prayed for Hungary and the Hungarian people. The event was also attended by numerous notabilities, including the Ambassadors of Nicaragua and Barbados, pastors, families and teachers of participating children.
