Ambassador András Simonyi visited Los Angeles on November 19-22 to meet with prominent representatives of the Hungarian community on the West Coast.  As the Honorary Chairman of the event, he participated in the "Budapest – Los Angeles Express" Charity Ball of the Hungarian–American Synergy Benefit Fund, organized by Dr. Zsuzsa Pekarovics and Dr. Attila Béres.

Ambassador Simonyi attended the traditional "Széchenyi Tea" at the invitation of the Coordinating Committee of the Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federation for the Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Freedom Fight.  At the event, Dr. Antal Bejczy gave a lecture on space research while organizer Éva Szörényi and her colleagues performed a musical-literary show dedicated to the revolution and directed by Szörényi.

During his stay in Los Angeles, the Ambassador met with Nobel Prize laureate professor György Oláh, as well as actor and former Mr. Universe Mickey Hargitay.  Ambassador Simonyi also attended a presentation by the Operetta Foundation dedicated to the Hungarian-born composer Franz Lehár.
