Kálmán Kovács, the
Hungarian Minister of Informatics and Communications, visited Washington,
DC, between June 8-10, to meet with leading US government officials and
business leaders.
Minister Kovács met
with Under Secretary of State E. Anthony Wayne, Karen Evans, Administrator
of the White House Office of E-Government and Information Technology,
Under Secretary of Commerce Michelle O'Neill, as well as high-ranking
officials in the field of IT policy, cyber security, and IT business.
Minister Kovács also
visited the Hungarian Technology Center
(HTEC) in Virginia, established 18 months ago with the goal of
increasing the presence of Hungarian high-tech companies on the East
Coast. In the wake of HTEC's success in Virginia, Hungary is now in
the process of establishing a similar Center in China.
The Minister also met
with a group of young Hungarian-American IT professionals at the Kossuth
House, in downtown Washington, DC.
