The
Hungarian Minister of Economy, Mr. János Kóka, is visiting Washington,
San Francisco and Los Angeles between June 18-24. This is the Minister's
third visit to the U.S. since he took office in October 2004.
Earlier
in the week, Minister Kóka gave a presentation at
the "BIO 2005" Conference in Philadelphia. He joined the
Trans-Atlantic Business Dialogue at the 2005 EU-U.S. Summit on June 20.
Hungary's position on trans-Atlantic trade relations is that the U.S. and
the EU need to develop even closer ties in the field of business and
technology to better face the economic challenges of the 21st century.
Mr.
Kóka also met with Carlos Gutierrez, Secretary of Commerce, Samuel Bodman,
Secretary of Energy, Congressman Don Manzullo, and Congressman Tom Lantos,
in Washington.
Minister
Kóka is currently in California to meet with business leaders in the San
Francisco area and in Los Angeles in order to inform them first-hand about
business and investment opportunities in Hungary. During his stay, the
Minister will meet with the executives of leading IT and biotech companies
such as HP, Cisco, Oracle, Intel and Solectron, and he will discuss
opportunities of the film industry with the president of Twentieth Century
Fox.
The
purpose of Mr. Kóka’s visit is to further strengthen the good trade and
investment relations between the United States and Hungary.
