Hungary Trains Young Iraqi Diplomats

The Hungarian Government has concluded a program training thirteen young Iraqi diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The curriculum of the training course was compiled by the faculty of the Corvinus University in Budapest, Hungary.

The diplomats were also exposed to the workings of the Hungarian MFA with regard to diplomatic protocol, participation in international organizations, press relations and public diplomacy, personnel selection, and continuing professional training.

The visit by the Iraqi diplomats was a part of an ongoing effort by the Government of Hungary to assist the new Iraqi democracy through training Iraqi professionals in agriculture, civil engineering, water management, privatization, local administration, and law enforcement, and comes on top of material assistance already provided in the form of medical and military equipment, including seventy-seven tanks shipped to Iraq last month, which are already being paraded there by the 9th Iraqi Army Division (see picture below).
