A Night at the Opera, Dedicated to Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension

Charity Tilleman-Dick, the 21-year-old granddaughter of Congressman Tom Lantos, who uses the stage name Charity Sunshine, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice combined their extraordinary musical talents Saturday evening in a unique effort to raise awareness about pulmonary hypertension, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. More than 100,000 people are known to suffer from this often-fatal disease.

The gala event drew an audience of 450 that included Ambassador and Mrs. Simonyi, as well as UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Charity Tilleman-Dick studied voice at the prestigious Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, and is currently attending the Johns Hopkins Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD. She was diagnosed with the illness while studying at the Academy last year.
