Ambassador and Mrs. Simonyi hosted the
members of the Black Tie Club on February 10 at their
Residence. The Club was founded in 1951 by some twenty men
and women and now it has approximately two hundred members, including lawyers,
doctors, scientists, engineers, military officers, corporate executives,
government officials, and diplomats who get together on about ten occasions a
year organized around different cultural and travel themes.
Among the distinguished guests was Mr. Ronald A. Duchin, who told
the Ambassador of a very special connection he had with Hungary: He was
personally involved in the historic event when President Jimmy Carter decided to
return the Crown of St. Stephen to Hungary.
