Message from President Bush to President Sólyom on August 20

Dear Mr. President:

I am pleased to extend my congratulations and those of the American people to you and all Hungarians on the occasion of your National Day on August 20.

Our countries are bound by a close friendship that is rooted in our common shared commitment to democracy and freedom. These common ideals have made us partners on important global efforts, including promoting democracy and the global war on terrorism. I look forward to continuing our cooperation and deepening our already strong bilateral relations.

I extend my warmest wishes of peace and properity to the hungarian people on your national day.

Sincerely,

George W. Bush
