Ambassador Visits Walter Reed Army Medical Center

Ambassador András Simonyi visited Walter Reed Army Medical Center today and met with soldiers who had been wounded in carrying out their duties for the Coalition in Iraq. He talked to a number of men and women who are presently undergoing treatment there. "We Hungarians, who from the beginning had troops on the ground, are all very proud and grateful for the sacrifices of Coalition troops from the U.S., Hungary and other nations, and for their efforts to bring democracy and stability to Iraq," the Ambassador said.

Ambassador Simonyi also met with Colonel James K. Gilman, Commander of the Hospital, Lt. Colonel Kathleen Burgess, and Captain Christopher Ivanyi, who is of Hungarian ancestry and comes from a prominent family of distinguished military background.
