Ambassador and Mrs. Simonyi hosted a
reception for the Washington National Opera's new production of Mozart's
"The Magic Flute" on its opening night Saturday.
The Ambassador and WNO President Michael
Sonnenreich's remarks were followed by a lively reception in the presence
of production underwriters John and Adrienne Mars, many Trustees of the
Opera, conductor Heinz Fricke and the entire cast. Deputy Secretary of
Defense Paul Wolfowitz and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as
well as the Ambassadors of Jordan, Korea and Switzerland were among the
guests.
Hungarian soprano Andrea Rost and the
other singers were extremely popular with the guests. The Ambassador was
proud to present the wonderful treats of Hungarian cuisine and winemaking,
and the party kept on flowing naturally past 1 a.m.
