This week, the Hungarian Embassy DCM
Viktor Szederkényi, led a delegation of Hungarian IT firms and officials
from Hungary's trade development agency to a business outreach trip to
Rochester, NY. The trip was aimed at creating partnerships and possible
ventures with businesses of the Greater Rochester area.
Beyond meetings with local business
executives, the delegation met with Rochester Mayor William A. Johnson,
senior officials of the International Business Council, the Rochester
Business Alliance, the Greater Rochester Enterprise, as well as the
President of the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Several Hungarian firms indicated a
willingness to open a branch in the Rochester area, an effort endorsed by
the Hungarian Government. The groundwork for establishing closer relations
between Hungary and Rochester was laid by Ambassador Simonyi during a recent
trip to Rochester.
The delegation also included the Vice
Rector of the University of Veszprém, who, apart from exploring
opportunities to cooperate with RIT, discussed the establishment of
Sister City relations between the cities of Rochester and Veszprém.
