Hungarian, U.S. Health Ministers Sign Cooperation Agreement

Hungarian Minister of Health, Dr. Jenő Rácz conducted a brief visit in Washington on January 14. Minister Rácz and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy G Thompson signed an agreement on health and medical sciences. The Understanding between the two government agencies creates a legal framework for future cooperation. The Ministry of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services intend to enhance and expand cooperative efforts addressing their common problems in the areas of prevention- and health-promotion-oriented policies, health services, information technology, epidemiology, bioterrorism, and medical research.

Minister Rácz had meetings in several institutes of the National Institutes of Health (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Fogarty International Center, National Cancer Institute). He also met with representatives of the Nashville Health Care Council and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce.
