Ambassador
and Mrs. Simonyi gave a national day reception at the Embassy of Hungary
on March 15 honoring the 157th anniversary of the 1848-49 Hungarian
Revolution and War of Independence. Click

Earlier
in the day, Ambassador Simonyi, Congressman and Mrs. Tom Lantos, as well
as leaders of the Hungarian American community laid wreaths at the
Kossuth and Wallenberg statues in the Capitol rotunda. The ceremony
coincided with the 15th anniversary of the unveiling and dedication of
the Kossuth bust in Washington.
The
Ambassador also took part in a brief ceremony organized by the Hungarian
Reformed Federation of America (HRFA) honoring the legacy of 1848 at the
Kossuth House in downtown Washington, where he placed a wreath at the
Kossuth plaque on the wall of the building.
