Ambassador
Simonyi met with Senator John Cornyn (R-Tex.) today, the new chairman of
the Senate
Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and
Citizenship to discuss current foreign policy issues of mutual interest,
emphasizing the importance of the strengthening of trans-Atlantic
relations. They discussed issues related to Hungarian-U.S. relations, the
joint effort of the two countries against terrorism, Hungarian
contribution to building democracy and stability in Iraq, and questions
related to homeland security.
The
Ambassador stressed Hungary’s commitment to building strong economic
ties with Texas, especially in the fields of high tech and health care.
