Ambassador Simonyi paid
a short visit to San Diego and Los Angeles in an effort to explore
opportunities for cooperation between Hungarian and American firms,
especially in the field of biotechnology. In San Diego, he met with City
Manager Michael Uberuaga who presented him with a key to the city. He
was interviewed by Marc Bailey on Fox6 XETV's "Fox in the
Morning" and met with editors and reporters at the San Diego
Union-Tribune. Finally, Ambassador Simonyi gave a speech at the San
Diego World Affairs Council where he was also welcomed to the city by
Governor Davis' Senior Field Representative, who brought a personal
note from the Governor.
In
Los Angeles, the Ambassador visited Walt Disney Co.'s headquarters, where
he met with senior executives and was given a tour of Disney's Feature
Animation Studio. He gave an in-depth interview on Leslie Dutton's
Emmy Award-winning "Full Disclosure" and met with editors
from the Los Angeles Times.
