Embassy Remembers 1956 Revolution

In the company of over 300 guests, the Embassy of Hungary and the community of American Hungarians remembered October 23, Hungary's National Day commemorating the Revolution of 1956. Following Ambassador Simonyi's opening speech, renowned historian John Lukacs shared his views on the Revolution with guests in a keynote speech.

Ambassador Simonyi proceeded to present Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Hungary to Ohio, László Böjtös, with the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, Commander's Cross, that was awarded to him by President Ferenc Mádl.

Rounding up the event, private collector Gerald Czerny donated a color screen print by János Németh, commemorating the generation of Hungarian artists who immigrated to the United States after the Revolution.
