Ambassador Simonyi Receives Young Political Leaders' First International Award

 

The American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) held  its annual award ceremony in Washington D.C. today. Ambassador András Simonyi was awarded the ACYPL Alumni International Award named for the Gary L. McPherson, who served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1994-2000. Ambassador Simonyi is the first international recipient of the Award.

In 1982, Ambassador Simonyi was the host of the first-ever ACYPL group of young politicians in Hungary. The following year, he escorted a group of Hungarians on a U.S. program. The group included Peter Medgyessy, who was at the time Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Finance and is now the Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary.

Ambassador Simonyi received the award together with White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales and Delaware Director of State Personnel Lisa Blunt-Bradley.
