At the ceremony Chief of Staff Lt. Genaral Michel Maisonneuve and Hungarian Deputy Chief Viktor Szederkényi spoke before the Officer Corps, representatives of the City of Norfolk and the local Hungarian community. Both speakers highlighted Hungary’s past and present contributions to freedom and democracy, including Hungary’s current participation in NATO’s mission in Afghanistan.

The ceremony was followed by a reception featuring Hungarian food and wine organized by Hungary’s National Liaison Representative to ACT, Colonel György Juhász.  The reception was attended by Supreme Allied Commander General General Lance Smith, military representatives of all NATO members and the local Hungarian community.
