August 6, 2008 Hungarian Scout Group Visits Embassy A Hungarian boys-and-girls scout troop visited the Embassy of Hungary on Tuesday, August 5, to meet with colleagues of the mission and to learn more about the functions of the Embassy and Hungarian-American bilateral relations in general. Each diplomat presented his or her area of responsibility, talked about the every day life of a diplomat, then the scout troop was given a guided tour of the embassy building. The Hungarian Scout Troop and diplomats of the Embassy in front of the equestrian statue of Colonel Michael Kovats de Fabricy The 400th St. Peter and Paul Scout Troop from Óbuda, a district in Budapest, Hungary represented their home country for the 4th time in the Michigan International Camporee 2008, one the greatest scouting summer camps in the United States from July 27 to August 3 at the Northwoods Scout Reservation in Lupton, Michigan. László Treer and Nándor Tárnok with traditional Hungarian horseman’s leather whips The Michigan International Camporee 2008 hosted more than two hundred scout participants arriving from 22 countries, who had the chance to try several indoor and outdoor activities: swimming, rowing, canoeing, fishing, tubing, crafting, archery, shooting, along with team games and challenge activities, and also special theme activities relating to Michigan history. The international troops each shared traditional and modern songs, games, and other Scouting activities from their home countries.
