Ambassador Hosts Dinner in Honor of Hungarian Filmmakers Attending NGA Hungarian Film Series

Ambassador Béla Szombati and his wife, Zsuzsa, hosted a seated dinner in honor of three Hungarian contemporary film makers: directors Diana Groó and Ferenc Török, and producer Iván Angelusz at the Residence on Saturday, October 10. Their films were presented as part of the New Films From Hungary: Selections from Magyar Filmszemle film series at the National Gallery of Art.

The guests of the dinner included Peggy Parsons, Head of the Film Department of the National Gallery of Art (NGA); Krisztina Danka, Washington Program Director of the Hungarian Cultural Center in New York; John Hanshow, Director of the Washington Film Institute; Andrea Ellis, Board Member of the DC Film Alliance; Kimberly Skyrme, Board Member of the Women in Film and Video DC (WIFV-DC); Film Director Aviva Kempner; and Cultural Attaché Béla Gedeon.

The Hungarian film makers visited Washington, DC as part of the Extremely Hungary cultural festival, attending the screening of their films, '411-Z' and 'White Palms' on Saturday, October 10, as well as 'Urlicht' and 'Overnight' on Sunday, October 11, in the Auditorium of the National Gallery of Art. There will be two more Hungarian films screened at the NGA: 'The Man From London', directed by Béla Tarr on Saturday, October 17, 4:00pm, and 'Delta', directed by Kornél Mundruczó on Saturday, October 24, 4:30pm.
