The play, which has been on the program of Radnóti Színház for more than two years and received positive critical acclaim in Hungary, was directed by Péter Valló, and premiered in Hungarian with English supertitles in downtown Washington at the Mead Theatre Lab at Flashpoint on Tuesday, November 24.

The poor couple living in a small Hungarian countryside town hit the jackpot on the lottery

The two-men show is about a poor couple living in a small Hungarian countryside town. Played by Enikő Börcsök (Actress of Vígszínház) and Zoltán Schneider (Actor of Radnóti Színház), the couple find themselves in a situation, which most of us only dream about: they hit the jackpot on the lottery.

A bitter argument and a tragic decision follow their first joys and delight

The tragic comedy play presents the sad, but inevitable mental process and verbal dialogue between husband and wife which they go through from the first shocks of joy and waves of delight through anxiety to the final decision, enforced by their fear of each other, their family and immediate surroundings, to burn the winning lottery ticket.

Both performances of the play were enjoyed by a full house audience

Both performances, played at 6:30pm and 9:00pm at Mead Theatre Lab, were enjoyed by a full house audience, which demanded the return of the troupe next year. The benefactor ticket holders of the first performance were entitled to attend the post-performance reception at the Residence of the Hungarian Ambassador, along with VIPs of the corporate sponsors of the play, International Club of DC and The Great British Pine Mine.
