Hungarian Night at the International Student House in Downtown DC

 

Hungarian hospitality awaited the students at the dining hall of the International Student House

"Hungarian is fun," residents of the International Student House (ISH, 1825 R Street NW, Washington DC, 20009) who attended the Hungarian Night, have concluded repeatedly since the event took place in the evening on Saturday, July, 19 at the ISH building.

The success of the gastro-cultural night was mainly due to the family-style three-course dinner, spiced up with folk music, dance and cheerful conversation – all Hungarian and fun.

 

Kellner Scholar Emma Sajben discusses the effects of globalisation on contemporary Hungarian culture

The organizers and chefs for the night included Emma Sajben, Barbara Pap, and Kriszta Pozsonyi, three Hungarian Kellner Scholars of Trinity College in the 2008-2009 academic year, who also gave entertaining and informative presentations on Hungarian history and culture in between mouthwatering bites of traditional Hungarian cuisine.

The goal of the night was to raise the interest of the of the internationally diverse audience in Hungary and her culture - a mission fully accomplished, based on the overwhelmingly appreciative feedback ever since.
