Embassy Celebrates János Starker's 80th Birthday

János Starker, the world-renowned cellist, performing artist and teacher of generations of musicians visited the Embassy on April 3 to attend a reception held in his honor. Starker's assistant professor, Emilio Colón played Gaspar Cassadó's Suite for Violoncello Solo, followed by Luigi Boccherini's Sonata in C Major for Two Cellos, performed by Starker and Colón. The 250-strong audience formed a massive line after the concert to wait for their program notes signed, and many brought vinyl records and CDs.
