Meeting of leaders of the Hungarian American organizations at the Embassy

The leaders of the Hungarian American organizations met at the Embassy on October 11 to discuss the most important questions of the Hungarian-American bilateral relations.

Ambassador Ferenc Somogyi emphasized the necessity and significance of cooperation between the Embassy and the Hungarian American organizations. He announced that Hungary opened a new Consulate General in Chicago on October 4, and that the annual meeting of the honorary consuls in the Embassy will be held on December 6-7, while the national holiday reception will take place on October 23.

Roundtable discussion about bilateral questions of importance

He talked about the visa issue  and the developments on the VWP in detail, and presented plans on the 2009 cultural season on New York and Washington, asking for the assistance of the Hungarian American organizations in the planning, organizing and realization of the project. Ferenc Somogyi also discussed Hungarian-American bilateral economic relations, and possible cooperation with Hungarians living abroad.
