Ambassador Simonyi visited
Miami
on January 16-17.
He had meetings with the President of the University
of
Miami, Ms. Donna Shalala, Ambassador Luis Lauredo of the Mayor’s International
Council, Ms. Stefanie Reed, coordinator of VIP relations of the Art Basel,
as well as numerous representatives of the Cuban-American community.

During his visit, Ambassador Simonyi focused on
fostering relations between
Miami
and
Hungary
in particular through establishing connections with the Southern Hungarian
town of
Pécs
which will be the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010.
The
Ambassador also continued the dialogue with key representatives
of the Cuban-American community about the experience of
Hungary
in democratic transition.
