Hungarian Foreign Affairs Committee Delegation Visits Washington, Meet Congressman Lantos and Senator Lugar

 

A bipartisan delegation of the Hungarian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee visited Washington between October 22-24 to discuss current foreign policy issues of mutual concern, such as the situation in Kosovo, Afghanistan, energy security and the Visa Waiver Program.

The delegation was headed by Chairman Zsolt Németh (Fidesz), and included Mr. Vilmos Szabó and Mr. József Kozma (MSZP). The delegation’s program included meetings with Congressman Tom Lantos (D-California), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Senator Richard Lugar (R-Indiana), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kurt Volker and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Rosemary DiCarlo.

On October 23rd, the delegation participated at the Embassy’s reception commemorating the 1956 Hungarian Revolution where special remarks were delivered by Chairman Németh.
