Embassy of Hungary and AJC host fundraising event for The Rescuers: Heroes of the Holocaust documentary

The film of Emmy Award winner director Michael King and Executive Director Joyce Mandell documents the lives of diplomats who saved Jewish people during the Holocaust.

The fundraiser and promotion for the documentary "Rescuers" was the closing event of the Holocaust Memorial Month organized by Embassy of Hungary. The American Jewish Committee (AJC) was the co-host of this event.

Ambassador ferenc Somogyi and Rabbi Andrew Baker (AJC) welcomed guests at the Embassy. Before select portions of the documentary were shown to the audiance, Senator Joe  Lieberman (D-Conn.), Congressmen Robert Wexler (D-Florida) and John Larson (D-Conn.) made remarks.

After the film screening, Executive Producer Joyce Mandell, Rabbi Andrew Baker and Director Michael King took questions from the audience.

The Embassy of Hungary and AJC raised about 12.000 dollars for the International Documentary Association, a non-profit organization, and sponsor of the film project.
